Presentation proposals are now being accepted for the November Taxonomy Community of Practice Call sponsored by Earley & Associates.  The session is scheduled for Wednesday, November 5th from 1 - 2 p.m. Eastern Time.
 
This call will focus on Search Integration.   Should you be interested in participating, please submit a brief abstract by Monday, October 20th, with title, a three or four line description of the proposed presentation and three to four bullets detailing the significant points of the presentation.

Call for Papers: ISPIM 2009 Conference, Vienna on "The Future of Innovation"

The 2009 ISPIM Conference - The Future of Innovation - will be held in Vienna, Austria on 21-24 June 2009. Organised by ISPIM, hosted by The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, and supported by DANUBE - European Programmes for Training, Research and Technology and Ratio Strategy & Innovation Consulting, this conference will bring together about 300 academics, business leaders, consultants and other professionals involved in innovation management. The conference format will include facilitated themed sessions for academic and practitioner presentations together with interactive workshops and discussion panels. Additionally, the conference will provide excellent networking opportunities together with a taste of local Viennese culture.

News from RIM



Research in Motion announced new developer tools for applications to run on BlackBerry smartphones.
BlackBerry JDE v4.6 enables development of applications for BlackBerry Bold and Pearl Flip, and features APIs for location-based services, multimedia integration, and vector-based graphics. Additionaly, BlackBerry JDE v4.7 extends support to the BlackBerry Storm, including support for touch-screen, accelerometer, and virtual keyboard use.
RIM also announced the availability of the BlackBerry Storm later this fall. The 3G BlackBerry Storm features a touch-screen with multi-touch, an accelerometer that will switch between landscape and portrait mode, and a full QWERTY keyboard. Service will be available through Verizon Wireless in the U.S. and Vodafone in Europe, India, Australia, and New Zealand.

EU searches for ICT innovation strategies

ICT research and innovation:
Public consultation (until 7 November 2008)

The European Commission is currently coordinating a public consultation initiative in search of the best strategies to boost Europe's leadership in ICT (information and communications technology) research and innovation.
 

Contributions from industry, ICT experts, policy-makers and the wider public will fed into a new strategy for ICT research and innovation, to be made public in 2009. The aim is to put European ICT industry, especially SMEs, to the forefront of the race for global competitiveness. The public consultation is open until 7 November 2008.
